ThinkVantage Toolbox: remove status icon and keep it gone
The system toolbox keeps cluttering up my taskbar with its huge useless icon. I don't want to uninstall it completely, just remove the icon. I can right-click the taskbar and unselect the toolbar, or I can go to the settings dialog from within the toolbox and uncheck "Show Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox status icon in the task bar". Either of these does indeed get rid of it, but it keeps coming back with every reboot. How can I get rid of it for good?

Re: ThinkVantage Toolbox: remove status icon and keep it gone
I have it disabled myself. I think a right click on a blank area of the taskbar brought up a menu. I then chose toolbars, and unchecked the toolbox toolbar.
However, I wasn't opposed to it being present; just it's icon size which vertically expanded the taskbar. If there were a way for it to display itself at normal taskbar height icon size, I think I would add it back. I liked the bar gauge versus the white Windows battery icon.

Yes, I already tried that. It makes it go away temporarily, but only until the next reboot. I found the following thread about this issue on the lenovo forums:Radioguy wrote:I have it disabled myself. I think a right click on a blank area of the taskbar brought up a menu. I was able to make it stay away by deleting the registry key under:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I generally just uninstall the app completely, along with several other Lenovo apps. If my ThinkPad isn't working correctly, I'll know it before the app does.
It can easly be reinstalled via the Lenovo System Update tool.
