X201 - Product recovery has been removed from this system

#1 Post by sokos » Mon Jul 23, 2012 8:05 am

Hi mates,
Long time no talk, but my good ol' X300 is going in retirement and i just got a X201i.
Lovely machine, but the guy who sold it to me had the most great idea to install Win 7 clean installation (DSP/retail)

So i got it today and i want to do Recovery with the OEM system (win7pro)
First i couldn't get the F11 button to work, but after installing R+R 4.5, i got it on the boot.
So i press the Blue button, F11 and choose to do a system recovery.
Then i get this ugly MF message saying: Product recovery has been removed from this system

But the Lenovo_Recovery partition is there.. i can see it in windows (but i can't see the files, they are stealth) but i can see it's a 9.76Gb partition and used is 7.7Gb.

Any ideas?
Please tell i don't need to wait for 2-3 weeks for Lenovo to bring me the Restore disks.. :(
T21 (Sold)
T40 (Sold)
T41 (best machine i ever had, Sold)
Toshiba Satellite (what a mistake, sold)
Thinkpad Z61t (brilliant machine, went to my father)
Got my T61 :)

When you are in windows, do you have the Q Drive ? lenovo recovery ? can you create your restore disk off that ? You can put the recovery off to the usb drive and boot from that usb.
