The X series use soldered CPU, which means you'd have to either replace the motherboard or do the soldering yourself. You might want to go through MSCONFIG to see what's turning on with your machine and disable anything you're not using. That can slow performance. The often overlooked weak link in performance is the hard drive. A faster 7200RPM hard drive or SSD is much more likely to make your system seem more responsive than the CPU as most general usage is not very CPU intensive.
