Wake on LAN (WOL) over wireless card

Hi, is Wake on LAN (WOL) even possible over a wireless card? Another thought I had, does such a device exist which interfaces with the NIC but functions over wireless as that should work. I have an X300 with a busted screen I want to repurpose, but in general I am curious about this. Thanks in advance.

It is possible with Windows, at least, and has been for some time:

The wake feature is implemented on the OS level, not BIOS level, so it may not work globally in all environments.

I think that at least Intel's latest WiFi adapters implement this, but I don't have the details.
