Just wondering when will we have thinner than 9.5mm HDDs that are at least 750GB and 7200RPM with 16MB cache. How's it looking, is anyone working on that? WD? Seagate?

I know there's a way to stuff fit 9.5mm HDDs in an x220 but I'd rather not go down that way.

The largest 2.5" platters on the market are 500GB now, so it is not up to hard drive manufaсturer to produce >500GB 7.5mm, >1TB 9.5mm or >1.5TB 12.5mm thick hard drivers; you have to wait for the new generation of platters. So far, AFAIK, there is no any firm plans on that.

FYI, for $1100 in the U.S., the 600GB Intel 320 series SSD is thin, fast, and available!

And 500GB HDD + 80GB mSATA SSD is about of the same capacity and speed, while being 4x cheaper
