T400 and HSPA+ mPCI-E modem - which one ? (Europe/Poland)

#1 Post by JAJO » Sat Feb 25, 2012 1:14 pm

Hello,

I have Lenovo T400 and I'm looking for mPCI-E modem for it, which works in HSPA+ 900 MHz.

Do U have any idea which one will fit in my laptop?

I know that dedicated is Ericsson F3507g but it not suppoert HSPA+ 900 MHz, it's to old.

But I found on this page http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... MIGR-68495
that Lenovo supports for example Ericsson F5521gw which supports HSPA+ 900 MHz but it's for newer Lenovos laptop.
Do U think it will fit in my? Do I have to put only Lenovo-branded modems?

Thx for any advice.

Install a modified BIOS and then you may install any miniPCIe card, whether for the T400 or newer machines, whether Lenovo-branded or not. Otherwise, you are limited to Lenovo-branded cards for the T400.

Note: If you use a "non-standard" card after you install a modified BIOS, then you may need to tape its Pin-20.

I don't understand policy of Lenovo. My guaranty is finished so I don't understand those limitations about white listening.

ThX for that site EOMtp. Those BiOSes R a little old but if I have to I will use it.

Anybody was trying Samsung GT-Y3300 modem on their T400?

Kind regards, hervshahn

I installed modified bios and have no error 1804. The modem is Samsung GT-Y3300. But there is another problem, everything in this topic: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=102994
