Can any one confirm if this type of screen would actually work? Has anyone gotten a glossy screen? My R61i has one, after that all the other Thinkpads I have, have had matte displays, would it would be more glossy than the R61i one?

Re: T510 - Can't find oem FHD panel anywhere! please assist
Hi guys
sorry that I re-activate this thread but I hope somebody can help me to make the right decision.
My screen is damaged in a way that I can still work with the T510 but every time I move the screen I get red, green and blue vertical lines and in the left upper corner of the screen the colour's are really smoky (i.e. black is a bright Gray). I think on my travels some how the T510 sees some forces on this corner. Anyway, my T510 is a student version which means I don't have any tech spec. And actually I don't have the right tool to see which screen is used. My T510 has the product ID 4349W32 and the screen resolution is 1600x900. So I guess the screen is the AUO B156HW01 V2 which can be replaced by the AUO B156HW01 V4, am I right ?
Has anyone experience with the AUO B156HW01 V4 and Linux? Does the screen works with the nvidia driver (the T510 has the NVS 3100M graphic card) ?
Thanks
Rob

I bought the screen from the same seller on eBay, no complaint at all, what a vivid screen!ibsprocket wrote:Update -

Seller was great! Sent it Fedex Express from Taiwan. Arrived in 6 days, and that included a weekend. Stamped AUO on metal frame, sticker on back confirms part number.
Installation was a breeze. Took about 10 minutes. Screen looks amazing. Awesome upgrade for the money!

As Brad said, I successfully swapped my 1600x900 panel with a FHD panel and there were no issues at all. I have a T520 with the Nvidia 4200 graphics. FHD is much better I must say.

DALE, wrong one your link is a glossy screen.
I am trying to pick the right ebay seller too. The two listings that were confirmed by people buying from this thread have ended. There is some other ones. Sometimes the back sticker on the pictures says "no warranty" or "limited warranty" or "AU optronics" (no mention of warranty for AU optronics). You'd think that "AU optronics" is the right one but the two you guys approved were "limited warranty" based on the links you provided but then you said it was stamped on the metal. Screenintaipei did not even have the FRU number on the sticker. So if you bought and are satisfied could you look at your LCD sticker and tell me :
FRU code or no FRU code at all ?
does it says "no warranty" or "limited warranty" or "AU optronics" ?
the manufacturing date on top. For ex : 11/22
provide the link to the seller. thx

After all I bought this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... TM:US:1123 - it was already in June. I agreed with the seller to send me the FRU original (04w1544; AUO B156HW01 V.4, 95% NTSC) panel and he did.
If I remember correctly on the back sticker was the FRU 04w1544 and AUO B156HW01 V.4 - most likely the panel Lenovo is using and I am very satisfied with it. I installed it and haven't had any problems since.
Sorry I am not sure about the other details (manufacturing date..) and I am not going to open my LCD.

Re: T510 - Can't find oem FHD panel anywhere! please assist
Rather disconcerting.. You said the seller agreed to send you the FRU original. His ebay picture of the LCD back sticker clearly does not have any FRU number printed at the location where it's supposed to be. Also you said you remember the back sticker had AUO B156HW01 V.4. I can make out AUO B156HW01 from the back sticker of his picture but "V.4" is missing, it's clearly blank at that spot.DALE wrote:After all I bought this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... As if that wasn't enough, in his description he says "Screen Finish: Glossy or Matte at random".
I've worked inside chinese companies and I know how chaotic and underhanded they are. I think he might have shipped you a refurbished pulled panel because this is certainly not the stock that he is selling is on that listing.
This removes any confidence from making a buy. I'd prefer to take the luck factor out of a >$120 decision.
Re: T510 - Can't find oem FHD panel anywhere! please assist
Well, when I wrote that I had to agree with him to send the original panel -it meant that they have more kinds, originals and some other panels (e.g. original cannot be glossy...) - if you check who bought the 1 piece - it is me..
If mine was refurbised.. I cannot tell - I didn't notice any signs that it was used - seemed like brand new to me.
Yeah, well.. it is totally your decision - you just asked for my experience...

Dale Thanks for your answer. I am trying to lower my risk of getting a cheap replacement. I am not sure I can replicate your luck with that seller.DALE wrote:Well, when I wrote that I had to agree with him to send the original panel -it meant that they have more kinds, originals and some other panels (e.g. original cannot be glossy...) - if you check who bought the 1 piece - it is me..

Well.. it probably was quite a luck...
I'm worried that for $120-130 you will have to undergo this risk - try to write those sellers, maybe their responses will convince you (or convince you to buy original from Lenovo )

Re: T510 - Can't find oem FHD panel anywhere! please assist
Wait a minute how do you know the FRU original is 04w1544 while people higher in the thread are saying FRU 42T0765 ?
Re: T510 - Can't find oem FHD panel anywhere! please assist
I don't remember exactly now, but definitely from the hardware maintenance manual: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... 078_07.pdf - maybe other sources also.
Re: T510 - Can't find oem FHD panel anywhere! please assist
The FRU 42T0765 is specified for the T/W510 series and the FRU 04W1544 is specified for the T/W520 series.
The FRU 04W1544 is a AU Optronics B 156H01 V4.
I don't have the specifics on the 42T0765. The next time I see one I will look at the label.
The fitment and operation in either series is the same. This panel also will likely fit SL and Edge models.
I have a personal preference for the 42T0765 which I think has a slightly warmer quality.
I have sold several to forum members. PM if interested.

Since this thread still comes up very high in the Google results for those looking to replace TP T510 screens, I thought I would add this link where one could purchase the exact part: http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/scr ... 6HW01~V.4/ - I ordered one and will update this thread when I receive it.
On eBay, there is only one seller (as of today) that seems to be guaranteeing an exact part - but even then, it's hard to trust that since he does not allow buyers to ask questions regarding the item!

Check these screens out, if they are compatible: http://www.pei-network.com/15-6-screens/
They are well-priced, and I have bought from this company before (excellent communication and service).
