R500 and SPDIF issue

#1 Post by tbrychcy » Thu Jan 20, 2011 3:07 pm

Hello all.

I wonder if there is enough to get a dockstation with SPDIF input, so that to pass the digital audio signal from the R500 thinkpad to amplituner? Unfortunately the laptop does not have the SPDIF input and I have no idea if there should or not be any SPDIF "hardware" inside laptop to have the SPDIF in the dockstation up and running.

Appreciate any help solving this.

regards,
Tomek

The R500 runs on an Advanced Mini Dock. The dock has (coax) SPDIF out and it works fine. So yes the digital signal passes from the R500 through the SPDIF output on the dock to a tuner.

Thank you for your help.

BTW: Can I use the DP port when the laptop is docked? The laptop has integrated graphic. I wonder, how can I get the digital audio and video from the laptop and I figured out I use the dock, so that to get the audio via SPDIF from the dock and video via DP port via laptop. Have no idea if it works...

Maybe do you have any cleared solution for the issue?

regards,
Tomek
