Max memory for R61i running 64-bit Linux?

#1 Post by lyansaine » Sun Jun 10, 2012 4:01 pm

Here's one for you guys - I have an R61i that I'm refurbishing and and I'm curious about how much RAM I can throw in here. The maximum that the machine can handle with 32 bit XP is 3GB, but Lenovo says it can handle 4GB with 64-bit Vista. So if I'm running 64-bit Ubuntu, does that mean I could take advantage of 4GB of RAM?

Any help is appreciated - thanks!

You can actually install and run 8GB in that machine.

4GB and more will be recognized and available under any 64-bit OS.
