Hello,
So I'm back. This time I left my R61 for a bit since I'm scared of killing it because the amount of attempts it has already been put through. So I pulled out a few T61's I have. I attempted the same mod (because I'm still having issues with my R61) and same thing - stuck at 1.9GHZ but instead of showing 200mhz bus speed CPU-Z shows 800mhz. I have cut the trace in 4 places and isolated the pin on the CPU. Same result. Throttle stop won't let me overclock and I don't know what to do. I am counting on your guys help
Well just for double checking, what clock generators are you dealing with? If you are unlucky enough you can technically get a clock generator that simply does not do 1066mhz FSB (On Dell laptops the CY series clock generators are the lemon), but for you to get that on both your motherboards would be very unlucky. In which case if you try to do 1066mhz fsb it just ignores it as the clock generator doesn't recognise what BSEL 000 means.
And also, I have just done this mod on 15.4" R61 so clearly it should work and I got P8600 to work correctly. Though 15.4" R61 does use a different family of BIOSes.
Maybe you really should put a picture of the exact work that you've done, zoom out a little so I can get some "context" where things are. Also try without isolating the pin on the CPU because isolating that pin on the CPU means BSEL1 would simply be floating at the clock generator and anything can happen.

I have managed to try a lot of things lately on the laptop - after a BIOS reflash everything seems fine. The BIOS on both laptops seem to act up sometimes (I could change some setting and the issue comes back, sometimes) but now both machines boot up at 1066mhz every time. I hope it stays that way.
