R30 error No.270

#1 Post by arik78 » Wed Sep 14, 2011 12:46 pm

hi everyone

I have an IBM R30 laptop with weird problem
the time is always goes back to 1980,
every time I try to adjust the system clock through the BIOS , the whole system get stuck.

I've already pulled out the CMOS Battery , tried to replace the memory stick (which works on th same 3v line) ,and still get the same result

and beside I get the 270 error as I mentioned

if any of you knows how to to get rid of that , it might help ....

thanx in advance

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

The 0270 error means that there's a hardware problem with the real time clock. The factory suggestion is that it may require a board repair (i.e., replacement). If you installed a fresh CMOS battery and are still getting this error, then that's probably the issue.
