I know that Windows 7 Ultimate creates a system partition (101.9 MB) at the front of the HD.

I know that Acronis True Image Home 11 running on a Win XP Pro T30 machine using two USB HD enclosures will successfully clone a Windows 7 Ultimate HD.

Unfortunately, I know that Partition Magic version 8 will trash a Windows 7 Ultimate HD when it attempts to fix the three "boundary errors" that it incorrectly finds.

Has anyone using Windows 7 Ultimate successfully created a new partition on their system HD?

I haven't used tools like Acronis, but If you want to get rid of 100MB Partition when installing W7,

make partition with size of 99MB, then expand the size you want to.

Hope this will help you.

Apparently, Windows 7 Control Panel / Administration Tools / Disk Management
has to ability to create a new partition.

First, Shrink an existing partition...

Next, Create a new partition in unallocated space

-----------------

Is this a true statement? -- There are ONLY TWO partition managers that support Windows 7.

The only two software that can currently support Windows 7 partitions are Partition Wizard and Paragon Partition Manager. However, Paragon Partition Manager is expensive, and it has no free edition available for home users. If you want to do partition management with Paragon Partition Manager, it would probably cost you at least $69.

MiniTool Partition Wizard... allows home users, Professional users, and system administrators to easily perform partition operations safely and quickly. Best of all, MiniTool Partition Wizard is absolutely FREE OF CHARGE for home users.

robert213 is correct: Windows 7 disk management is a very good way to create that new partition. If your cd drive is currently listed as D, it will be bumped down to E during the process.

EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition is a free partition manager that supports Win 7. The home edition is free, the Pro edition is $20.00. I have been using this for creating and resizing partitions with this for over a year now and so far no problems. All operations are done while still in Windows. Here is a link if you are intested...
