How to test a TP fan outside the TP

Ok so what i mean,i have many fans that are laying around and i want to test them independent of a Thinkpad.Any solutions
on how to make a small board or testing device to hook a FAN to it and test will be appreciated.

Get yourself the HD fan connector off a broken mobo.
Most Thinkpads all use the same connector.
Hook it up to a 5V power supply and test all you like.
Put a potentiometer in the + wire to be able to vary speed.
Looking at the plug, the red wire = +5V, black or blue (middle wire) = GND, orange (or other color) is RPM control
You only need +5 and GND for testing.
