Yeah, saw the story this morning. But, I have no real need for one. I guess $35 is cheap for a system board, but I've picked up complete and functional ThinkPads for less that are more powerful and much more useful to me. But I'm sure these have their place.

nice little single board computer..
much different than a used thinkpad..
easier to use for development work than a thinkpad with limited I/O used for sensing external conditions and replying with either a line raised high or some visual output to the RCA or HDMI display..

for me this would be something to design a really smart home thermostat using much more than merely the local temp at the physical position of the thermostat..

or at least several other real life applications..
it would be hard to use a thinkpad as a dedicated controller mounted inside some sort of chassis in an environment with limited cooling..

I was thinking ton of automation! Not just home, but any remote sensing application.

Got my name down for one via RS Comps andFarnell in UK.

I want to start with a simple media PC since I watch a lot of BBC iPlayer but the Gizmodo people have given me a lot of ideas too!

This could be highly useful in robotics, with those lovely GPIO pins. That 700Mhz ARM and that 256MB of ram. Costs about as much as an Arduino and can do so much more!
I'm highly interested in it.
