Happy Easter everyone.

#1 Post by Medessec » Sun Apr 20, 2014 4:37 pm

Welp, today's Easter, I'm sure some of you are celebrating with your families.

I usually celebrate Easter with my family, but instead my dad just sent me $150 to take my roommates and close friends on a nice dinner tonight, probably a Chinese restaurant... because even though we want it to be nice, we're still cheap, dumb college students.

Anyone else celebrating Easter with family or friends?

After two weeks of sunshine it rained today. April showers became an April downpour. My wife and I took her elderly parents out for lunch. Father in law will be 90 this summer and ate like he was a starving waif from a famine zone. After a full course of lamb, Yorkshire pudding, roast spuds and about 6 different vegetables he then asked for bread and butter pudding. Normally this is a bulky dessert. For the occasion the chef had used two hot-cross buns filled with lemon curd and the whole thing was covered in custard. 1200 calories at least, and that's just the pud!

The waitress said it was a double portion so we could all try a bit and presented us each with a spoon to dig in. He ate the lot. Nobody had a chance to try it. Oink, oink!

Then we had to almost carry him to the car.

Whoever invented these feasts probably expected a fast beforehand. Not my father in law. He makes a Labrador Retriever seem anorexic.

Happy Easter ... or happy eater. Same thing to some people.

Dawh... now we're touching on who's religious, who's not.

I'm not as religious as my family, but who doesn't want to have a nice dinner? Although I am kinda over looking for colored eggs in the park.

Spent Easter dinner with my family (mother, wife, younger daughter and her boyfriend) at our favorite restaurant on the Santa Cruz wharf.

Spent just over an hour and a half getting back home, whereas the normal time is about 35 minutes. No major accidents on the curvy, mountainous Highway 17 between Santa Cruz and San Jose; we only saw three cars on the side of the road and one CHP cruiser. Just plenty of other people that had the same dinner plans or went to the beach on a nice Sunday afternoon.
