Using a Virtual Machine for software

#1 Post by ThinkPad560X » Wed Nov 01, 2023 12:57 pm

I have 3ds Max and only use it maybe once or twice out of a year to make simple 3D objects for my game. So I would be on it for maybe 10-30min out of 2 days of a year. AutoDesk and even Adobe are Subscription now. I bought and own my software and don't like to download or pirate software. But for my copies of 3ds max 7,2009,2013 I can only have a 30day trial. After that it locks you out and have to uninstall the software or activate and the servers are long gone for activation. But my problem is even if I uninstall and reinstall, somewhere in the registry it has that I had 3ds installed. I even tryed erasing all that and reinstalling and still got need to activate or uninstall. I even wiped the drive and a fresh install of OS and 3ds and still got samething. So 3ds is either writing an invisble partition on the drive or in the memory that it was once on said machine.

So I was thinking of using VM and using it that way. My problem is I need a graphics card higher then 128MB max on VM that it gives me.

I know some will say just pay sub, but 3ds is https://www.autodesk.com/products/3ds-m ... plc=3DSMAX and it is not worth that much for me to use for 10-20min.
