Looks like Burt Rutan's team is very close, and I haven't heard anything about the other teams.

btw - what team is id software's John Carmack working with? I've heard jokes that the reason D00M 3 is delayed is because of Carmack's involvement in the X Prize.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

He is the leader of team Armadillo Aerospace. http://www.xprize.org/teams/armadillo.html , http://www.armadilloaerospace.com/ That ship doesn't look like a winner… but who knows, maybe he will do some kind of miracle as he did with Doom 3.
