[quote="KristianJ
George/ajkula66 would possibly suggest otherwise because of the UXGA Flexview. Looking back at ones he's sold this year, I paid about half of what he sells them for. Mine's about an 8.5 to 9/10 machine whereas his are immaculate according to him (and I'll gladly trust his judgement). Personally I think they're worth the $400-450 mark, but that's just my opinion :)[/quote]

I did just pick up his cosmetically excellent, but GPU Issued A31p for $150 which I think is a very nice deal even though I suspect I'll end up replacing that MB for another $100 or so. In the meantime, it'll be a fun project. Although, it'll probably end up being another $100-$150 after that in RAM and HDD to get it the way I want it. So the estimate to project completion will be in the $400 neighborhood which is decent for an A31p. :D

Started a New Job At A Pc Recycling Center

#152 Post by n1nj4Lo » Thu Oct 25, 2007 1:39 am

I started a second part time job here recently, And well since he couldn't pay me all at once he sent me home with 30 bucks, A USB 2.0 Card with 4 extra ports, PCMIA USB 2.0 Card, A NVidia GeForce 2 MX/MX 400 video card and two laptops a IBM ThinkPad 701C Which works perfectly and jus needs some trouble shooting and time with the PCMIA Card slots and has Win95 on it with Year 2000 Update and a old Acer laptop which works perfect except for the LCD Monitor...

Heres the pics of my newly adopted IBM ThinkPad 701C :D

Almost deal and not a deal

#153 Post by kim-chee-san » Thu Nov 08, 2007 3:36 pm

My almost deal: Went to meet up a person who was selling their Thinkpad R61 for $250. The machine was practically new when I saw it. I poked around a bit and figured out it was stolen. Then I asked the guy bluntly if it was stolen--of course he denied it. I didn't take it, although I really, really wanted to since I was looking to get a Thinkpad on the cheap for my dad.

My not a deal: Picked up a Thinkpad T43 for $300. In perfect physical condition except for one broken battery latch. Functionally, not so good. The guy said that it boots to the splash screen and then posts a fixed disk error. Easy fix I thought. After getting it home, I found out the computer wouldn't boot b/c there was no OS on it. Got an OS on it eventually only to discover that it may have a motherboard problem (it's not an issue w/the GPU--from what I can tell looks like the problem is where the HD connector meets the motherboard). Now, I need to decide to whether to spend more to fix it or cut my losses now.

I picked up a 22" WSXGA+ Envision LCD monitor for $149 at Best Buy. It was a very worthy upgrade. :)

Well not as good of deals others here have gotten but i just got a OK deal on a 600X today.

I picked up a 600X --- 2645-5EU
P-III 500Mhx , 576 megs ram(2x256's) , 20 gig , ac adapter , bag , in great shape(no scratches at all) even all covers.
Only thing the LCD is alittle "red" and dim.
But i got the whole thing for $60.00.
The ram alone is worth more then that.

Ya i have bought and sold stuff with Jamiphar befor.Great guy to deal with.
I thought about getting him to do the backlight.BUT i just cant spend the 100.00 on it to fix the backlight on a laptop i only bought for 60.00.
I may just look for a nother LCD screen on e-bay.
I realy dont know what to do with this 600 yet.I just bought it because of the good deal.

On eBay you can pick up a complete 600x for about the same price as yours, up to ca. $200.-
There are a few for sale in the next couple of hours (for parts).

I bought a 1TB Western Digital Mybook USB hard drive for $183.69, from Newegg. This is how I got this deal:

1) On Monday following Black Friday, this drive was on sale for $224.99 plus $7.53 shipping = $232.52. The regular price was $329.99.

2) PayPal had a special 20% cashback offer. So I paid for this drive through PayPal and got $46.50 back.

3) This PayPal payment was backed by my Visa card, which gives me 1% cashback. One percent of $232.52 = $2.33.

So, the final price was $232.52 - $46.50 - $2.33 = $183.69.

I just purchased a near new Samsung 224T, 24" WUXGA 1920x1200, LCD monitor for a total of $300. I haven't had much chance to use it much yet but the few minutes that I spent using it were very pleasant. With the Tx0p UXGA laptops this monitor gives a total of 4.224 million pixels of heaven.

I guess its time to retire the ol' Dell D176FP, 17" SXGA 1280x1024, monitor now.

Sedan.

short story about it: I bought a 244dl originally for that dollar. Then I traded it in for the 850 turbo. Now I have an 850 turbo.

I also got a 1972 bmw 3.0 CSL (not cs or csi) for 7500 bucks, and a 1974 BMW 2002 Turbo for 600.

I just ordered my first ThinkPad today, after testing the waters for a while with a ThinkCentre 8700-D5U I got for $399 last July. I think I got a decent deal on the ThinkPad, here's the specs:

ThinkPad X61 Tablet
Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 LV (1.6GHz, 4MB L2, 800MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate
12.1" MultiView + MultiTouch WVA XGA TFT, 2x3 UltraConnect II antenna
2 x 1 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory
Intel Turbo Memory 1GB
100GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim
Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN (supporting Centrino Pro)
1 Year Standard Depot Warranty
ThinkPad X6 Tablet UltraBase
ThinkPad X60 Tablet 8 Cell Li-Ion Battery
Bluetooth

Price: $1,575.47

I would have preferred the Atheros wireless over the Intel Wi-Fi, but I was able get an X61 Tablet that included the ultra-base and DVD DL burner at a lower price than I could configure just the machine alone before. Was tempted to wait for the updates in the product line coming up soon, but I needed a laptop and wasn't willing to be one of the first-users of the newer models who may have faced initial bugs, etc.

Picked up a T42p (UXGA Flexview, of course...8) ) and 2878 Mini Dock for $500 ($450 US) today. I expected to pay at least a couple of hundred dollars more, but the auction was surprisingly quiet with the first bid (not mine) made with just over a minute remaining. It's not pristine (probably about an 8.5 with some key shine and a slightly loose left hinge) but the rest is great! :)

I ordered T60 1953-DAU 4~5 weeks ago during x-mas season for 650 US$ including shipping.

Original description: T2300E(1.66GHz), 512MB RAM, 60GB 5400rpm HD, 15in 1024x768 LCD, Intel 950, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

Config I received as above!

It's refurnished laptop and 1 year old but looks like mint/brand new laptop. I received all manuals, trackpoint caps and I was amazed to see its original box along with it. And packing was done carefuly I realized after opening the box. No screches on body, no dead pixel on screen. :)

I dont no if its a good deal in United States but probabbly worth in India. I asked my friend to bring the laptop to India. The cost of same laptop [ new piece ] costs more than 1800 US$ here....And impossible to get 2nd hand

T23

#172 Post by Gripcon » Mon Feb 18, 2008 7:34 am

I found a T23 battery on C list locally for $25.
When I went to pick it up the guy said he just bought it, but the laptop died.
I asked what he was going to do with it and he gave it to me with the AC adapter and a wireless B card. It had a bad hard drive. Put in another one, ran restore disks - runs sweet, looks good, nice screen. This does not happen to me often. Tom :bouncing-bird:

I just picked up an X40 on ebay for $250 shipped . It came with an 8 cell battery and the ultrabase with DVD ROM. The reason it was only 250 was that the description listed problems with the LCD that when I received it were not there!

Sniped a well equipped T23 for $70.- on eBay.
Still includes: Modem, Belkin Wireless Network Card, 256 Mb of Memory (2x128), Dell Laptop Case, Hard Drive Caddy, Battery (2 yrs old, in good shape, holds charge), AC Adapter and Power Cord, APC Mobile Surge Protector, CD/DVD Drive

It fell off a coffee table, but seems to still be working, no cracked screen.
Probably (hopefully) some loose inductors...
Parting it out as-is would bring me already a profit!
