Question about IBM site.

#1 Post by Antioch » Sat Jun 12, 2004 10:24 am

I was looking at the "let me build it" portion of the T series' website, and while the tabook says:

2373-9XU Pentium M 745 1.8 512MB 14.1” SXGA+ 9600 80HS Combo 11a/b/g Wi-Fi Mod/Blue Yes XP Pro May 2004
2373-9VU Pentium M 745 1.8 1GB 14.1” SXGA+ 9600 80HS Combo ✳ Intel 11b/g Wi-Fi Mod/Blue Yes XP Pro May 2004
2373-9ZU Pentium M 745 1.8 512MB 14.1” SXGA+ 9600 80HS DVD-RW 11a/b/g Wi-Fi Mod/Blue Yes XP Pro May 2004

(In regards to the T-42) When I go to the site and click on any of the T-42 models with the radeon 9600 (done on the first page at the processor-select spot) it grays out the 14.1" button. The tabook says I can get 14.1" with radeon 9600, buuttt... the customize form doesnt seem to be letting me. Whats wrong?

Thanks.

The "Let me build it" T42's currently on IBM's site are Express base units and there is no base unit that has a 14.1" SXGA+ screen and the 64mb Radeon 9600. You could try to build a configuration using non-Express base units but they are way over priced:

(base unit = 2373BYU)

FWIW: csv96, check out the 2378FVU. This Express model is listed on the first page one gets to in the ThinkPad section of the website and it's shown as 14.1", SXGA+ and 64M Radeon 9600.

The 2378FVU is not a base unit. It's a preconfigured unit (which means you can't configure the hard drive, wireless card, bluetooth, etc.,). The Express base units (which are fully configurable) are:

2378ETU - 1.5ghz 14.1" XGA M7-32
2378EUU - 1.7ghz 14.1" XGA M7-32
2378EVU - 1.7ghz 14.1" SXGA+ M7-32
2378EWU - 1.7ghz 15" XGA M7-32
2378EXU - 1.7ghz 15" SXGA+ FlexView M10-64
2378EYU - 1.8ghz 15" SXGA+ FlexView M10-64
2378EZU - 1.8ghz 15" UXGA FlexView M10GL-128

The last two are also available as 2379 variants (3-year warranty).

csv96,

Thanks for the correction. I thought that by "Express base units" you meant configurations corresponding to the precofigured models on the "Express models" tab of the ibm.com website. My bad.

I bet this would all make more sense if I could download tabook.com, but for some reason I can't get it to download. :(

The base units (aka open bay models) are not listed in the tabook. They're only in the Hardware Maintenance Manual.
