Yup, 7 is definitely one of "the good ones".Ferrario500 wrote:Windows 7 is one of the most favorite version. its really good OS. its also suitable for my works.

Windows 8? Why?
I'm not a fan of it myself (I'm sure just like Vista it will grow on me though, given time), but I'd be interested to hear why you like it.
...unless of course you were being sarcastic?

Oh, i like it for various reasons. It is really faster than Windows 7 and in my opinion it looks nicer (no Glare/Aero anymore, which I hated on Windows 7). Also if you use it a bit you can quickle get used to the new Metro-startmenue. It is also nice to have some apps like the News, the Mail or the Weather-App, which are pretty usefull. Sure, Windows 7 is nice too, but IMHO Windows 8 is better.

My opinion is that 7 is the better OS, but everybody has their own views.Ibthink wrote:Oh, i like it for various reasons. I don't like the fact that 8 is aimed more towards tablets and phones more than the traditional desktop and laptop.

I agree with you on both points. I care a great deal about how things look, which is why I still slightly favor Vista over 7, and why I have been boycotting Thinkpads in the past several years (since they have become too ugly for me).Ibthink wrote:It is really faster than Windows 7 and in my opinion it looks nicer

Nah in my opinion 7 looks better than 8. 8 looks kind of weird without the Start Button and I don't think the Metro UI really looks all that nice either.pianowizard wrote:I agree with you on both points. Re: Favourite version of Windows and why? (poll)
Haven't used 8 yet, so I can't give an opinion on it. However- 7 has been a fantastic OS, it does everything ridiculously well, and Windows XP is definitely my second choice, due to it being so fantastic. XP also aged very well, it isn't absolutely unusable like all the 9x systems and partly Win 2k is now. XP pretty much runs on everything too-so it's an easy way to make any old Pentium I or II machine usable again.
7 does very well of keeping to the traditional feel of Windows, something that I can't say for 8 right now based on what I've seen. 8 seems to be the product of Microsoft being chewed out of market demand for mobile devices, and they want to accommodate that. I do have a slight irrational hatred for people who want nothing but a powerful device that is mobile, simple, and basically made to work in a very limited, singular manner. It makes computers pretty inefficient, and it just shows how lazy people can get. Apple devices are the ultimate example, but if 8 was made to follow up on that, then me is no happy.
I will also say that Windows 98 is the first OS I ever used, and I absolutely love it, it's nostalgia all the way with it. It's also *fairly* usable, although not particularly tolerable when installed on a computer of now.

Trying my hardest to collect Thinkpads, but college and being broke kinda gets in the way. However...
