Max RAM for TP 600e

I have a TP 600e (2646-8BU). Book seems to say that max RAM is 288K. I have over 400K (256+128)on mine and wonder if I can go further to 256+256 and whether it is worth it.

I use it in Linux mainly for browsing the Net. . Would I see any difference?

While you could use two 256MB modules, IMHO, if what you have now works without problems, you won't see any difference adding the additional 128MB. You probably are not using much, if any, swap as it is, but it's there if you need it. If you find that you are often using swap, adding more RAM might make a dif, but whether you can actually tell the dif or not is another question.

Thanks, I guess I will not fool with it considering another problem has bobbed up (See other post)

They don't seem to update the original docs when things change. One of the BIOS updates enabled support for 256MB modules making the max RAM 544 MB (256 + 256 + 32).

Thanks, I had suspected as much. Nice to know the published specs have little to do with the actual specs.

It's very common with memory. There were no 256 MB modules available when the 600E was released so they couldn't test them so they couldn't say they were supported. After higher capacity modules became available they presumably tested them and added support to the BIOS but didn't change the old docs. Same thing happened with newer models using DDR/DDR2/DDR3 memory.
