What glue for port covers on 600X?

#1 Post by Ken Edmonds » Thu Apr 19, 2012 8:21 am

What it says basically. My 600X, which I've had for 10 years, is looking very tatty now. The top's all scuffed and most of the port covers have broken off. It's even got the paint peeling off a couple of the hatches underneath.

A mate's given me a tidy redundant 600E with a faulty screen so I'm going to liberate the lid and the port covers.
I'm sure I replaced one of the covers years ago but I can't remember what I used to stick it on with.

It doesn't get used much now but since I've got most if not all the accessories I'm not planning on parting with it.
It would be nice to get it back to looking like it did when I bought it.

I used superglue when i replaced mine. Its in the loft now, its just not practical any more. Shame, because like you i have all the extra's.
Keep it, because how many laptops today come with infra-red.
X61 and (retired)600x.

Thanks guys, job nearly done although halfway through I was beginning to wish I'd never started.

The 600X is done and looks much better but the 600E is still in a lot of bits. The mate who gave it to me has come up with a use for it so he's having it back, when I've put it back together, but he won't recognise it.

A fair bit of the double-sided tape IBM used came off with the covers so I put a dash of superglue on and stuck them back on.

Good job I'm not planning on changing them again.
