Thinkpad 2521 / 700T Value ? Info ?
Thinkpad 2521 / 700T Value ? Info ?
Hello , new user to the site , found because I came into possession of an almost brand new in the box Think Pad 2521 Pen tablet? along with several Boxes which contain "Pen" for the above and a couple of boxes with "new" batteries for the same. These are dated from the early 90's .
I have tried to research this item but it seems very hard to come by info . So i guess my questions are :
A. Is this a quirky item or niche computer ?
B. Would this have any value to a collector or hobbyist?
C. Should I attempt to power it on , or just wait for more information ?
Thank you for any replies or suggestions

hello and welcome to the forum..
700T..!?
IBM made a LOT of off the wall thinkpads and variants for business customers or in the hopes of making a thinkpad business users counld not do without..
the transnote is another example..
my GUESS is the 700T is another example..
some corporate entity bought a bunch or were sold a bunch by an IBM sales exec..
IBM was a business that did not know what the other areas were doing..
i experienced this, myself in the '99 - '04 time frame..
if i were you i would try to boot one up and see how it works..
an antique thinkpad running an antique OS and antique application software..

That's quite a treasure you have, I think the 700T was the "original" ThinkPad from 1992.
Post up some details of the accessories and so-forth, the dawn of ThinkPad history seems to be a bit of a weak area.

There probably is a specific HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) for it, but the closest I have found is:
tpvol2.pdf which includes the 700 and 700C
The slightly newer 710T can be found in: tpvol1.pdf
Both PDFs can be downloaded from the HMM link at the top of this page.
More info about 700T:

Re: Thinkpad 2521 / 700T Value ? Info ?
Thank you for the prompt and informative responses;
The HHM links Tpvol2 show me that the 700 is Not what I appear to have and looks more like a classic notebook with keyboard .
However the Tpvol1 with the 710T IS similar to the item I have , albeit with numerous additional navigation buttons on the front panel . And the worthpoint link is the EXACT Unit I have along with all the sundries pictured . So Thank you for that . I will attempt to charge / and then boot the system and I will attempt to locate batteries for one of the "Pens" . I will post my findings when or if I am successful . Thanks again
