During booting process, my 600E hangs at the "IBM thinkpad" logo screen. When it reaches the logo screen, it shows a few more hard disk activity, then everything stopped working. Backup/CMOS battery is a fresh one. Tried various combinations of bootable floppy and hard disk with no luck. Help!
Sorry for the duplicate post. I really need help on this one.

Re: 600E hangs at thinkpad logo screen
Try without memory. I've got similar problem when I put 256MB 133MHz stick in mine - it boots and detects(!) somehow it, but then i hear some "clicks" from speaker and everything hangs.
Re: 600E hangs at thinkpad logo screen
Thanks for reply. With 32MB PC100 it works. I tried three PC133S 256MB cards, even when two of them are installed the 600E can detect both correctly, but any combination of 256MB cards (one or two) results in nothing more than a hung-up condition.

Re: 600E hangs at thinkpad logo screen
When installing 256MB memory modules in the 600 series, you need to be using what is typically called "low density" memory. You can identify those modules by simply counting the number of memory chips that are soldered onto the module. For 256MB, there needs to be 16 memory chips. If yours has only 8, then that's a "high density" version and it will not work with the 600. Similarly, a 128MB module will need to have 8 chips to be low density. If it has 4, then it's high density.
