Freshly installed Win XP pro on IBM 600 and no sound

#1 Post by cmarti » Mon Nov 29, 2010 7:38 pm

On my new project the 600 IBM everything is working perfectly but I can get any sound from the speakers or the headphones jack.

Drivers seems to be installed and there's not exclamation mark in device manager but I still get no sound.

Has anyone encounter an issue like this before? any pointers?

Thanks.

Hiya cmarti,

Yes, this seems to be an issue that people regularly run in to with the entire 600 series when they try to use XP. Not everyone has this problem, however, so it seems to be a bit of a challenge to figure out exactly what is causing the problem. You can find a short discussion of the problem (albeit with a 600E, not a plain vanilla 600) and even a link to an alternate driver (though I don't know if it works with a 600) here:
600e + winxp = no sound????

Good luck!

Phil.

Thanks Phil,

I actually saw that thread before and tried the drivers and they install perfectly but still I don't get any sound. I will try with Linux mint to see if I can get any sound out of this thing. :)

Will post back the result.

Thanks one more time.
