Clean install W7 Pro - no drivers, cannot connect to net, help needed
Clean install W7 Pro - no drivers, cannot connect to net, help needed
Hi guys,
Short story long..
Got an work ThinkPad E550 few hours ago. It was full of bloatware and on mine mother tongue, which is terrible.
I put on clean Win 7 Pro, BUT I don't have a single driver on it to connect to internet. I'm desperate don't know what to do further...
I did download one driver from Lenovo official site, but no help at all..

Yep, happened to me as well.
You should have the drivers in C:\DRIVERS\.
If you don't see it: Just go to the Lenovo download page in another computer, download the Ethernet/WiFi driver of your choice, put it inside a USB stick and connect the stick to your new laptop. Once you install the driver from the stick you have internet and can download all the others (I recommend downloading only Lenovo System Update and use it to install all others instead of downloading each one of the drivers separately).
Cheers!

thanks mate,
I did that, but even after installing drivers...nothing is happening. I try with LAN, vulgaris wire, not recognised.
Is there where I can find all drivers?

This is the Thinkvantage software program that downloads all the drivers. If you need a link to the lan download for your model, let me know. If you download the correct driver, your lan should work with an ethernet cable.

It might be worth noting that there is what might seem to be an extra step to installing Lenovo drivers:
1) Download the driver package
2) Extract the driver from the archive package (that places the driver in the C:/Drivers directory)
3) Run the set-up executable to actual install the driver. (It's this step that many folks miss.)

@ Neil,
I would do that, but I cannot find driver package. There is few of them on Lenovo Site, Wifi, Bluetooth...
I will download them, save in C and install again..
If anyone have any link, it would be helpful.
Many thanks,

Even after following instructions, no help. I have download driver with other computer and put it in C:/DRIVERS, extract it there, but still that connection sign in lower right corners crossed with red X. After trying to trouble shoot Im getting error "Windows did not detect any networking hardware".
Im downloading drivers from http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/product ... =Downloads
Also went on Intel site, but cannot find any specific for i5 52000U.
thing is driving me crazy. Don't understand why windows in installation don't offer me to connect online.
Just reinstall fresh Win7 Pro and I see that there is Disk 0 Partition1: SYSTEM_DRV - what is that?
Also Device Manager showing missing drivers eve after I install them, for wifi and Lan in particular.

As per Userguide:
Wireless radio control key (F9)
Enable or disable the built-in wireless networking features. If you press this key, a list of wireless features is
displayed. You can quickly change the power state of each feature in the list.
Notes: If you want to use this button to enable or disable the wireless features, the following device drivers
must be installed on your computer beforehand:
• Power Management driver
• OnScreen Display Utility
• Wireless device drivers
(Also try Fn/F9)

The T410 series has a slider on the side of the Thinkpad that turns on and off the wireless lan. Perhaps your E550 series Thinkpad has one of those on/off switches that is set to the off position.

Use system information tools (System Information Viewer, PC Wizard, AIDA 64, etc.) to identify the brand (Intel, Atheros, Broadcom, etc.) and model of the LAN and WLAN devices, then go to the manufacturer's website to download the driver.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch

The wifi is probably a cheapo Broadcom crapcard.
Swap it out for a 1/2 size Intel (7265/3160).
