Thinkpad Edge and Ubuntu

#1 Post by ColonelPanic » Wed Jun 09, 2010 8:22 pm

Any other Ubuntu users out there?
10.04 runs like a dream on my Core i3 14" Edge. Every bit of hardware was supported right out of the box, no hacking it up to make it work. I was thoroughly impressed. It runs faster and smoother than Win7Enterprise, gets better battery life, and is a ton more stable. If anybody out there has ever thought about trying Ubuntu on their box, I'd say do it. Using Wubi, you don't even need to partition your drive, and if you want to get rid of it, just uninstall it like you would any other program. Worth trying, even if you're only slightly curious.

What OS are you running? Any hackintoshed Edge's?

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 on my Edge 14 as well and it runs great. thinkpad_acpi doesn't work so it's a sort of a power hog and I haven't gotten hdaps working yet.

I started an article on it over at ThinkWiki. If you have any time, please add to it.
