thinkpad tablet 2 charging issue

#1 Post by tinkerer » Fri Oct 11, 2013 9:11 pm

some googling indicates that this is a common issue...

I bought my TPT2 second hand (still in warranty) and it does not charge well via the usb plug. I don't have the factory usb charger - I'm using a 10W Belkin unit F8J052.

It takes FOREVER to charge. Overnight in sleep mode, it got to about 50% from 10%.

Lenovo utility says battery is good. Windows tells me that the unit is plugged in, but not charging. However the percentage of charge goes up over time - indicating to me that it's a software issue with the "not charging" message.

Has anyone come up with a definitive solution on how to fix this? Appears to be pretty rampant problem.

the lenovo charger that came with the refurb TPT2 is a 5.2 VDC, 2 amp wall blob..
much like the one that came with my earlier TPT 1 android..

check the output on your charger..
i'm not sure what USB spec is on a computer but those will, i think, take much longer..

also i notice that it does not seem to fully charge since it won't charge a battery that is over 95% much like in regular thinkpads..
