Thinkpad X1 Tablet Keyboard Repair?

#1 Post by skinnie » Tue Dec 19, 2023 7:02 am

Hello all,
I have a Thinkpad X1 Tablet Gen 3 that I bought used, about a month after having it, the keyboard started developping some issues, like explained in this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNgT5ukau0k, and after some time it completely stopped working.
A quick search on internet and apparently this is a known issue for Gen 1 2 and 3 of this tablet. Right now these keyboards are not easy to find and somehow expensive (like half the price of the computer).

Does anyone know what is the root cause of this, can it be repaired by a professional? Some weld of flex that is damaged?
I searched but couldn't find anything. Would gladly try to fix it.
I profit to ask if Gen 1/2 keyboards work with gen 3 tablets

Have a nice day

Certainly Lenovo would fix it for a fee. Keyboards are available on eBay if you to DIY, though I'm not sure if the Portuguese model is offered if applicable.
