https://imgur.com/a/je3mIU1 has vids and pics.

Thank you. I tried entering the serial number / MTM on the lenovo website, but it doesn't give the LID MATERIAL info (though it gave other details like CPU, battery, etc).

I'm not sure it can be determined from exterior images. Does the website give the LCD lid (rear cover) FRU for your serial number? I believe the FRU for the magnesium lid is 01AX955.

It's difficult to understand from a photo. In a cool environment, it colder to touch, compared to the other parts of the laptop?

Also the plastic lids have a tackier surface. Overall, it's difficult to understand externally. But if the laptop's working, does it even matter?

I'd tap it with a coin, comparing to something of similar shape and thickness.

Metal probably sounds different than plastic.

Magnesium is a heat conductor, plastic is a heat insulator. Place ice in a plastic bag and put it in a corner of the lid. It's it's magnesium, you should be able to feel the cold in the opposite corner quickly.

AZ91D alloy, which is the thing they use on Thinkpads, has a thermal conductivity of about 50 W/m·K. ABS plastic, less than 1 W/m·K.
