Issues with USB-C ports on my T480s
Hello guys,
I'm hoping someone can help me troubleshoot a weird issue with my T480s' USB-C ports.
Here's the deal:
(1) The Thunderbolt Port:
Only charges my Android phone using a C-to-C cable.
(2) The USB-C Port:
Charges the phone normally with C-to-C.
Briefly recognizes the phone for data transfer with C-to-C, then immediately disconnects and repeats.
But:
Connecting a USB hub to the Thunderbolt port allows data transfer with my phone using an A-to-C cable (the hub lacks a C port).
My laptop directly recognizes the phone using an A-to-C cable.
And:
The same C-to-C cable works perfectly for data transfer and charging on another laptop (E14 Gen 3) with same phone.
So, what's going on with my T480s? Any advice on how to fix this frustrating situation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I'm encountering a similar issue with my laptop's 'UCM-UCSI ACPI Device driver' repeatedly appearing and disappearing in Device Manager. I've followed various online suggestions, including troubleshooting for error code 43 (e.g., power cycling the device), but unfortunately, none have resolved the problem.

Re: Issues with USB-C ports on my T480s
AFAIK the Thunderbolt is a fast-charging port and should not be used for charging a phone.
Use the other USB-C port that is used for docking.
IMHO one should use a charger to charge a phone, not abuse a laptop for that.

Charging my phone is not my main concern.
I want to transfer data over the Type-C or Thunderbolt port, but it only charges the phone and doesn't recognize it correctly (Thunderbolt doesn't recognize it at all, and Type-C disconnects and reconnects immediately and repeatedly).

Have you updated the TB-firmware to the latest version?

Is it possible that your USB-C cable is only wired for charging and not for full functionality, incl.data transfer?
