I'm considering buying an X270 as a second notebook (alongside my existing X201). However the Yoga 370 has also caught my eye. Both of these are of same age and similar price, and the Yoga 370 has the benefit of being convertible; although it's not a must for me, it might be useful some day I suppose. At the same time, I like to have something ultraportable and am a bit concerned that the Y370 would be too big, being 13" instead of 12"?
Anyone who has experience with these two, I'd love to hear some opinions. Performance is not that important to me (I'm already satisfied with an old X201!) and instead I am more interested in design/build and 'coolness'. I like the retro square shape of the X270, but the Y370 has the all black colour. Thanks!

Considering an X270, or should I go Yoga?
Re: Considering an X270, or should I go Yoga?
That says no to me in terms of getting a touch screen. I'd personally get something slightly newer like the X280 for the better performance of the low watt quad cores.

Those Yoga 370s are incredibly thin machines and easier to slip into a pack than X201.
In my experience the touchscreen is a liability, they can fail on the motherboard side of things and then it's just extra weight.
I believe the Yoga 370 isn't engineered to the standard as the regular X series, it's closer to the L series. In fact starting with the **80 gen there's both L and X series Yoga. L380 and L390 have two DIMM slots while X do not, all X now have soldered memory. However, X380 and newer has Thunderbolt while no L have Thunderbolt which you would need for PCIE expansion such as egpu.
Most **80 gen and newer have quad cores.
I would rather travel around with a classic thinkpad than Yoga 260/370. But 260/370 are still cheap enough to be disposable while classic thinkpads have gone up in price with scarcity.

Re: Considering an X270, or should I go Yoga?
Sounds like you're in a similar situation to me a couple of months ago.
I think you should look for something with a quad core at the very least, so xx80 or xx90 series. I went with X390 as it's pretty much the same size as my old X220 but with slimmer bezels so the 13 inch display fits. Performance is about as good as my quad core T530, even higher in bursty loads. The complete lack of upgrade options is a bummer and the 6-row keyboard is a downgrade, but I can live with both.
