win10 1903 and middle click.
win10 1903 and middle click.
To avoid a growing list of win10 update issues on both 1803 and 1809, I've just clean installed 1903 on my T430. And whatever I try, I can't get back middle click trackpoint button to open links in new tab in firefox, something I've used since way back. (Have tried the registry hacks - 1214 to 2214, middlebuttonaction Dword to 4, tpmiddle doesn't want to install, rolled back to earlier synaptics drivers, even uninstalled them and went back to generic ps2 mouse driver which gave me middle click but no touchpad.) For now, I've assigned middle click to touchpad right click, which works. But it's a new action for me to put into my rapidly aging muscle memory...
Any bright ideas. I did get an early synaptics touchpad device driver which gave me middle click and 2 finger scrolling, but it was real jerky.

Re: win10 1903 and middle click.
Also, according to this - viewtopic.php?f=43&t=128210- under trackpoint settings for the 19.0.17.140 (14 Dec 2018) driver which I have installed now, there should be an option for middle click settings. My install doesn't have this dialogue which is a bit puzzling.

Re: win10 1903 and middle click.
Yet more - I've changed the registry setting Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\StickPS2 "middlebuttonaction" dword value from 0 to 4 but notice that it keeps reverting to zero after I log in and out. Is there more in the registry I have not tried?

Re: win10 1903 and middle click. Solved.
Solved my own problem... Using TPmiddle. Following a post on another forum, I'd installed c++ 2010 redistributable and tpmiddle0.7. Task manager showed tpmiddle running but no middle click. Then I found this -
https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comme ... _10_x220t/
A successful install of tpmiddle0.6 and C++ 2013 on an X220t. So I uninstalled C++2010 and deleted tpm0.7 from my startup folder and replaced them with tpm0.6 and C++ 2013 and all is working - I now have trackpoint middle click opening links in a new tab in firefox.
As a bit of new boy at this, took me a while to realize that tpmiddle runs in the background and has no interface, it just enables middle click. (And I guess other stuff as well, but I can look into that later.
C++ 2013 - search on Microsoft sites.
TPMiddle0.6 here: http://web.archive.org/web/201702162024 ... iddle.html
Hope this helps someone.

Re: win10 1903 and middle click.
Belated update - read it somewhere (must keep better note of my forum browsing) that win10 does not play well with tpmiddle 0.7, but is ok with tpm 0.6, which is exactly what I found. Just got a T440p and used tpm0.6 to get middle click (..er clunk) and found that I've also needed it after installing a T450 trackpad.

Re: win10 1903 and middle click. Solved.
For me, tpmiddle 0.6 wants the MSVC++ 2010 redistributable, not the 2013 you mentioned. So, same as the 0.7 (which didn't work for me either in terms of middle clicking).thelash wrote: ↑Sun May 26, 2019 4:40 amA successful install of tpmiddle0.6 and C++ 2013 on an X220t.
