Hi,

I am still using XP and need a new (bigger) HDD.
Do you know which is the largest available HDD with 512 Byte sectors isntead of the advanced format 4096 Byte sectors?
Otherwise: If I get the 1TB Samsung drive: are there any clone tools doing already the aligment. or are there aligment tool working after cloning?

Thanks!

Ralf

Thanks!

For the T42: max. 320GB (PATA)
for the X60: max. 750GB (SATA)

Check the specs of the HD you want to buy, it should tell you if Advanced or not.

Note that some of the Seagate drives with large sectors supposedly do not require any alignment ("SmartAlign" feature).
