Wake-from-sleep issues on R51 with Fedora 14

#1 Post by sysiphus » Sat May 07, 2011 8:44 pm

On my R51 with the FireGL 9000, basic video functions are fine...but I get neither the graphical boot screen, nor does the computer properly wake from sleep--rather, the screen shows garbled junk for a moment, then goes black (turned on, but not displaying anything). Any ideas on how to fix this? (Also, the performance seems really slow for Compiz, but to be fair, I'm comparing to Intel graphics (good drivers from Intel) and a FireGLV5250 (X1700)....
Any help would be much appreciated.

Tools in the "pm-utils" package have some so-called quirks which you can use to tune suspend/hibernation process. See ie. "man pm-suspend".
Sometimes the best solution is to simply let the kernel do all the work (which works for me, unlike pm-utils), try "echo mem > /sys/power/state".
