Question about port replicator for X30

#1 Post by CyberDude » Thu Sep 02, 2004 6:37 am

Does the port replicator for the X30 have it's own power switch? I.E. can the laptop be booted and used without opening the cover? I want to connect an external monitor, KB and mouse but don't want to have to keek opening the laptop to power it on and off.

If you are talking about the ultrabase then it doesn't, which I find stupid. The normal port replicators/docking stations do, so you should be fine.

Thanks.

BTW, do the docking stations also have slots for optical drives etc like the media slice does?

The (full) docking station does, the mini-dock and the port replicator don't.

Thanks. I thought as much but couldn't find anywhere that made it clear. It is a shame that the media slice doesn't have a power switch other wise I would go for that - at least it's portable.
