I would never a trust a 9 feedback eBay member with that much money. The ThinkLight is a friggin' flood light now!

Exactly...but I forgot to mention "trust" in my post, since I am very surprised at such a low price. In any case, if it is legit, then wow.

The layout and conflicting names within the title make the auction look like a scam so bidders beware.
I'm guessing that Dell and Vaio are included in the title so that searches for those words will include this listing.

Agree that something just feels off about the listing though.

I ordered this super deal on Dell.com on Nov 22:

Dell 2407WFP 24" LCD monitor: $799 + 15% off holiday sale + 20% special coupon from the Dell forum (knowledgeable members but not as fun as Thinkpads.com) + free shipping + tax = $581!!!!

I'm on a personal mission to single-handedly bring down the price of 512MB PC133 low-density memory modules on eBay... Here's some recent transactions: (all prices include shipping)

$42
$45 each
$41
$41.50 each

Please do your part by not paying any more than $45 for these modules! A recent scan of completed eBay sales shows prices hovering around $80-$85 each.

Thanks, RAY. I'm about to be selling a 512MB stick, once I figure out what the deal with the BSOD's is...But thanks for your efforts to screw me over!

rabbarba- I thought I was getting a good deal on a T43 for $730 with 28 months of warranty, but you... :)

AHA! So it is you who keeps winning my watched auctions!

Haha! Good deals though! :D I remember when I first got my T23 back in March I bought a used Micron 512MB chip off Ebay for somehwere between $80 - $90! And I thought that was a good deal considering most other auctions were going above $100! Naive, I know. Now I know I will not be maxing out my T23 until something favorable like your deals comes along. 8)

LOL! Sorry if I torpedoed some of the auctions you were watching/bidding/sniping. My personal limit at the moment is ~$45 (shipped) for these modules. I also tend to bid on pairs (or lots) as that usually means less competition. I am still planning on buying a couple of more, so as Sgt. Esterhaus would say, "Let's be careful out there!"

To fully explain my desire to lower the market price (sorry, dsigma6): I work for a company that was in the DRAM business a couple of years ago. I think we threw out some of these modules awhile back when they weren't worth keeping them in stock :( . I didn't have any equipment that used PC133 SDRAM at the time so I never thought about "dumpster diving".

Ray, that's quite an accomplishment! I would like to get a 512MB PC133 stick for my X22 but the high demand for these sticks makes it really hard to get one for less than $50 shipped. I got one for $47 shipped for my T23 last month but sold it with that laptop.

@KristianJ:

There is nothing too amazing about the price of that T43 on Ebay.

Go to www.lenovo.com.au, look at the T43 clearance, and you will see that they are selling brand new T43 machines with good specifications for quite low prices. The $1099 model is similar in specification to the EBay model, except it has a slower CPU, but it has a much larger hard disk, and a full 1 year warranty, instead of that 3 month joke.

Speaking of which, I bought the $1599 AUD T43 on www.lenovo.com.au, is that a good deal worth mentioning? Well I thought it was, but I guess it's nothing special compared to what people pay in the US and Canada..

I've gotta add the IBM Atheros A/B/G wifi adapter pulls available this week from IBM for $18 - give me a break, people were paying close to $100 for the first version not long ago.

Thanks IBM and thanks for the free shipping, too.

Eh? Where does one get one of those from?

Do they run any cooler than the Intel counterparts?
(I understand that they have a more reliable connection, better signal quality)

I've gotta add mine, Ya know "bragging rights" so here it is...

I got an IBM A31 2652-D3U With a 40Gb Hard Drive, P4 1.6Ghz/M 1.2Ghz, 384Mb of Ram and a Cd Writer|Dvd Reader combo.. I jus recently bought it this past saturday at a Pawn Shop I go to a lot as an "As Is" deal for $50.00... They didn't know what was wrong with it and I did know, It was jus missing an O.S. and luckly I have a valid copy of XP... So when I asked how much and they said 50 and I reached in my pocket and slapped the money down right then and there, And it's been running and working terrificly since I installed XP. It also came with a nice little eTrades laptop backpack and the ac adapter..

None p.c. electronics deals..
So I am a local thrift store curney.... I've gotten a Sony(3 of this brand) and Sanyo(1 of this brand) BetaMAX player all together for less than $25.00 bucks, Varied around 4 to 6 bucks each... Jus recently sold one of the Sony's on eBay with 21 movies for $130.00 bucks, They were movies I never watched so I didn't lose out on that but sure heck did make quite a gain/profit off of it... Also bought an RCA CED Select-A-Disc Player for $15.00 bucks at a Goodwill thrift store and it works perfectly.. LoL.. If ya haven't figured out by now, I am a collect of antique and vontage home movie entertainment devices.. Jus not the reel-to-reel movie player... The only thing I'm needing now to complete my collection now is a Super8/Hi8/Video8 VCR, Yes they've actually made quite a few movies put out in the 80's for these players, But the price for them on eBay right now is jus way over my pricerange..

They're selling at a bit of a premium due to the fact that many folks (like me) are looking for one to convert all of their Hi8 tapes over to digital media.

My Canon camcorder died a long time ago but I've got more than 100 tapes containing years and years of family trips, daughters' and son's ahtletic activities, and one daughter's Olympic trial.

(I'm a closet collecter of old electronic devices and have a fair collection of Beta players, LaserDisc players and even CED players.)

I've got a Sony EVC100 Hi8 VCR that's probably worth more now than when I bought it, maybe ten years ago. They are almost impossible to find and if you do get one and it needs to be serviced, Sony probably will not have replacement parts.
Best bet for converting old 8mm and Hi8 tapes is to use a $200-300 Video8 camcorder that has firewire and get those old tapes digitized.

Yes, but most of the Firewire equipped camcorders are Sonys and most of those are WAY overpriced on eBay.

I wouldn't even fool around on eBay. B&H Photo has brand new Sony Digital 8 cameras with firewire out for $240. You'll be able to transfer all your Hi8 tapes and have a camera to boot. Here's the link, sometimes these long links don't work, if it doesn't, just look for Digital 8 cameras on the website:

Most of us have experienced this, because computers depreciate quickly. We just need to get used to it. I already had this problem back in 2002 with the very first laptop that I ever owned, a Dell Inspiron 8200. I bought it for ~$1,700US, and just two weeks or so later, Dell offered a 10% off coupon for that same unit!

OK, my best deal...
Our local landfill collects electronics for recycling. Usually, you pull up, unload the car and deposit the electronic items into the dumpster. Larger items are left neatly beside the dumpster.
Having some old desktops to get rid of, I the responsible thing and recycled them. As I was preparing to leave, I spotted a T21 (2647-8AU) on the top of a stack of monitors. No power cord, but the laptop appeared undamaged. I attempted to power it up, and it tried until it gave a "low battery warning" and shut off. Heck, I figured. I took it.
I had to use a power cord from an older TP model, but it works!
The OS was wiped, so installing XP brought it up to the working point, and updating drivers from the website has made it a really nice little deal.
Total money invested: 1 copy of XP pro.

Beat that!

<EDIT> - Forgot to mention the cute little vinylish sack with the DVD drive that was with it. It had the CD/RW drive installed, so I have both!
Common sense to some of us is unfortunately the higher education others strive to attain.

I love a challenge!

Saw an auction on eBay for a T23 (2647-4MU w/o hard drive) which had some declared problems. Emailed the seller and told him that it was probably a fairly simple cure if he had the proper equipment. He respsonded by telling me that I could HAVE the T23 if I showed him how to repair it. I made sure I won the auction by bidding real high. Yeah, I was taking a chance but after a couple of emails back-and-forth, I got the feeling he was honest enough about it. Since he lived nearby (actually only a few blocks from where I used to live) I went by his house, repaired his system and he kept his word by giving me the T23. That was the 4th T23 I've owned and I still have it.

And no sorry, I'm not going to discuss exactly what the problem was with the system. Suffice it to say that all I had to do is remove one screw. If you go back through my eBay feedback, look for item # 180008796309.

Dang. I'm thinking it's pretty much a tie.

If you got a power brick with it, you win...

Unless you only got one drive with it, then we're back to a tie!
Common sense to some of us is unfortunately the higher education others strive to attain.

Well, in addition to the T23, he ended up giving me several old memory modules (we're talking 1, 4 and 8M EDO or FastPage DRAM) and an old external IBM CDROM (1969-010 that I posted a question about in Legacy). It turned out he was moving up to Seattle and that he was trying to get rid of a lot of his old junk. I've got the CDROM up and running after tracking down a power supply but I don't know what to do about the DRAM modules. I'm a memory test engineer but the equipment we have here at work no longer supports these dinosaurs so I don't even know if they are any good. I have a 486DX4 system at home which might be able to handle some of them but it not worth the effort for me at the moment.

BTW, I turned down the power supply since I had plenty of them but I think that he did throw in the disk drive (even though his auction said it would not be included).
