M52 or M55 Realtime Clock problem (XP)
M52 or M55 Realtime Clock problem (XP)
Hi, 1st Post.
I've several IBM M55, and a couple of M52-945G that appear to be gaining time. I'm not concerened with the odd second or so, but the onboard clock is gaining 4 or 5 mins a day. Has anyone else seen this problem?
Build is XP SP2.

Hi Leoblob,
Yes, the BIOS Clock (System Time) is moving as well, curiously if I disable Audio Support (within the bios), the clock is stable.
V odd.

That is extremely strange. I have no idea how that could be possible.xgc505m wrote: if I disable Audio Support (within the bios), the clock is stable
Do all your M52s and M55s have this problem, or just some? And did they have this problem from the start, or did this happen more recently?
If it were me, I would replace the CMOS batteries and see if that helps. Also, I would check the BIOS versions to see if the computers that are OK (I assume some of them are) have different versions than on the 'bad' machines.

Hi,
Managed to get hold of a mate at Lenovo, he confirmed there is an issue between the sound chipset and the Microsoft driver. We are not sure of the scope or reach of the issue, e.g which chipsets are affected, the only workaround is to disable the driver.

I thought about Moore's law of silicon chip upon your posting which is very impossible.xgc505m wrote:Hi,
