The T23 in my sig (with 30GB drive instead of the 80GB I upgraded it to) for $200 Australian (about $160US) via eBay. Seller has a set of recovery discs for me that I'm picking up today. I'm working on getting pics up soon, but I love it! :)

KristianJ, that sounds like a really good deal, especially considering the fact that it's much harder to find Thinkpads in Australia than in North America.

To a degree they are - I've hardly seen any retailers besides Lenovo direct that sell TPs new. The second hand market isn't too bad though - on eBay at the moment about 10% of the laptops are TPs. The p models are pretty rare though - I saw a R50p on there a few months ago that went for about $600US (which at the time I thought was a steal). At the moment there's a T41p that I have a casual eye on, but can't really afford to bid on. However I'd say that it will more likely than not go for a price below what you'd expect it to go for...

I just picked up an X40 with one month of warranty service left for $370 shipped. Now I have to wait eagerly for it to arrive. . .

Previous post reduces the degree of my first brag...

1/ I bought my X30 2 years ago for 350€. Keyboard was broken, but a 20€ replacement did the job. Added some memory and a wifi card, and this baby is still working rock-solidly!

2/ my latest thinkpad: X60 for 750€ (Core2, 512MB, 60GB, Wifi, BT). Just needs a memory upgrade and i'm settled for the next couple o'years.

Posted this in another thread, but an X32 with bluetooth and 1.5GB of ram traded for a PSP. The PSP I bought with money I got from a PC I found on the street. Total cost, maybe $30 total. I'll never get a deal like that again.

Just to come back to you about this, pianowizard...the T41p went for about $830 shipped, a fair bit above my expectations, I must say!

Now for my next brag...I've snapped up a T42 (2373-8YM) with Port Replicator II and just over 6 months warranty remaining for about $450US shipped. Now what makes this a great deal is that the seller had copied and pasted model details from somewhere that didn't match what I found out to be the actual specs. Whilst the listing said it had a 14.1" XGA, I asked for the model number and ran it through Lenovo support to find it's actually a 15" SXGA+ (Flexview or not I don't know for sure, but from what I've seen around here and on the Thinkwiki it probably is). Photos confirm this, so by the end of the week I'll have my trusty T40 up for sale somewhere.

I just received a used Dock II type 2877 that I bought for USD 15 plus shipping. For shipping I was charged only $1.70 more than the cost of actually mailing the package. Came to CAD 46 total. I am fairly pleased.

Yesterday I was at the local Goodwill thrift store and picked up an IBM ThinkPad Docking Station for models: T40, R50, X30, T30, R40, A30 Series... Only paid roughly $5.51 for it and it's working perfect with my A31... Even came with an extra SCSI adapter for the old printer port...

Yea for real especially after seeing how much they go for on eBay... I really lucked out, But as soon as I saw it behind the counter sitting on the rack I asked to see it and gave it good look over and told them ring it up right then and there.. At first glance from standing infront of the counter I couldn't really make out what was while it was, Fortunately I asked to see it as soon as I noticed it..

Two thinkpad Ultrabay 2000 li-ion batteries
One Ultrabay 2000 IBM 8xCD-RW drive
Two Thinkpad Port replicator II's
One battery for a toshiba satellite laptop

Via ebay, approx 38 UK pounds shipped.

HOLUX GPS RECEIVER GR - 213 series with Microsoft Map Point 2006 via ebay for 35 UK pounds, shipped. No experience with GPS so not sure if that was a bargain or not, but it felt like one!

X40 1.4Ghz 40gb onboard 512mb with open slot with ultrabase and DVD/CDRW. $384 shipped. It has a perfect LCD and looks like new. Under warranty until June 2008!!!

I think it was a very nice deal. This guy had several forsale on eBay with buy-it-now or best offer.... off lease I believe. I gave him the buy it now at $359 + shipping. Glad I did since this machine is like new condition. A little dust but thats about it. The auction said grade B with no LCD problems.... I have to say its in better than described condition. Its a 1.4ghz vs 1.2ghz described CPU. 8 cell battery could probably use replacing but the 2371-G4U originally came with a 4 cell so cannot complain.

My plan is to upgrade to 1.5 gb ram and try a 16gb CF drive instead of 40gb HD.... later replacing with 32gb or better SSD when prices come down.

Well, I didn't buy this one, but a copy of McAfee Internet Security turned up at my house today - I won it in a Site Advisor competition that from memory I entered when I installed Site Advisor. I'm installing it to see what it's like - whether I keep it on here is another guess.

That's INCREDIBLE! The 512MB RAM alone is worth $50! I am so jealous!

You should come take a look at my HP nc2400 when I am back at Brown in Nov. It will make you jealous.

It cost me roughly $255US shipped to join the legion of A31p owners, specs as shown in my sig. I was rather surprised at just how thick it appears, but not as heavy as I thought it might. But I am fairly certain that I would count this fine machine a slightly better deal than my T42, considering the magical factor of UXGA Flexview. :)

That's really a nice deal! I got mine for about $455 two weeks ago. It's a 2653-H4G, which has almost the same configurations as yours.(no wireless here..) It's still in very good cosmetic condition but I don't think that would worth the extra 200 bucks. Anyway I'm happy enough. I'm sort of person who always buy list prices. Good deals are too hard to find.

..or I'm just too lazy to make efforts

George/ajkula66 would possibly suggest otherwise because of the UXGA Flexview. Looking back at ones he's sold this year, I paid about half of what he sells them for. Mine's about an 8.5 to 9/10 machine whereas his are immaculate according to him (and I'll gladly trust his judgement). Personally I think they're worth the $400-450 mark, but that's just my opinion :)
