X2xx/X30x Shipping thread

#1 Post by ryengineer » Tue Feb 26, 2008 12:31 pm

If you ordered or received thinkpad X200 or X300 recently then post here and kindly don't create a new thread about shipping. Thanks!

mod edit: added X200 to this thread.

I placed my order early this morning before the price bump. Estimated ship date is 4/4. Hopefully, my order doesn't get cancelled due to the pricing issues.

I'm not sure if this is the case with the regular Lenovo store, but the employee purchase store had a price increase after this morning. If I config an X300 right now it is a couple hundred dollars more than what I payed this morning.

So Europe already gets an HSPA card? Does it include (A-)GPS capability? I wonder when the US will get the EVDO+GPS card, and an HSPA card as well.

I also saw that the UK site sells the X300 with a built-in modem/HomePNA card (which I guess replaces the Wireless USB)...

We have 3 6477-1UU boxes, ordered a couple weeks ago and arrived on Monday.

I really wish there was a GSM option in the US but so far only Verizon.

You know, I remember last time when I ordered the X60s when they first came out..... they said that the expected delivery date was more than a month. I ordered it in February and they said i would receive it in April. I actually ended up getting it in 3 weeks. So you never know.. I have an expected delivery date of 4/3.

ordered my unit today with wwan (directly from lenovo), will update when i receive it.

Shows estimated ship date 4/8/08

Edit: Noticed a small error in my order so called to try and change the order, was told the unit is in the build stage and would need to cancel the order and re-order so i told them to forget the change, expected ship date is now 3/20 but was told it would most likely be sooner.

Ordered 3/7/08

#17 Post by Toups » Fri Mar 07, 2008 9:43 am

Just ordered mine from Lenovo Direct with IBM EPP.

Standard battery with additional 3-cell battery, website showed 2-3 weeks, but confirmation upon order shows estimated ship date of 4/7/08.

One odd thing, when I click the link to check status, it now shows 4/9/08 only 5 minutes later. Will update here as time goes on.

Ordered a 6478-1JU on 2/26. Original estimated ship date was 4/11.

I just recieved an email today (3/7) that it has shipped!

Now I have to see how long shipping will take. If past experience is any guide, it will take forever to get through customs.

Me too! Ordered its identical, but more expensive and available, twin sister, the 6477-1ZU, on 3/3. Original shipping date was 4/1 and mine has also shipped today.

Edit1: looking more closely at the somewhat confusing shipping info, it seems that it's only my spare additional ac adapter that has shipped, not the notebook itself...

Edit2: the notebook was shipped immediately thereafter and has just arrived from Hong Kong (on 3/10, three days after the original 3/07 shipping notification, over a weekend no less) and I'm also typing on it right now...

It arrived this morning! I'm typing on it now!

I placed the order on 2/25.
It shipped directly from Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong via UPS Express.

update:   rebooked my order on 3/17 for a 6478-1HU topseller and it shipped 3/21! :D

second update:   took delivery on 3/27.

x300 Thinkpad in stock at D&H 64781VU today CA, and TX

#23 Post by njtech » Tue Mar 11, 2008 10:25 am

I just ordered one for a client today. These are the ones
with EVDO built in (Verizon) there are 4 left in TX and 5 in CA
warehouse. A lot of local shops like us deal with D&H so
if you want you may have luck going that route.

I just ordered the 64781JU today from Ingram. It just came in stock today at their Millington warehouse so I snatched it as it was the only one available. Ingram has 3 of the 64771ZU still available. I can't figure out the difference between the JU and ZU but I see the ZU is $400 higher??? D&H had no x300s in stock as of this morning.

specs and warranties are exactly the same.   the 6478 is a topseller model but the hardware is no different.   weird.

There is a 6477-1ZU, but no 6478-1ZU model. Only difference I see is a six cell battery vs. 3 cell battery for the 1JU--although the TABOOK says that both of these models come with a 6-cell battery-looking up the part number on Lenovo.com states otherwise.

The 6478 series is the Top Seller category, more aggressively priced units vs the 6477 series.

I had looked at the specs on the tabook and it states that both models include the 6 cell battery. If it comes with a 3 cell I'm sure I can get Lenovo to send me a 6 cell since it is a typo. I can't see any other difference between the two models; however the difference in list price is $790. This is very strange even for Lenovo :)

IBM started this marketing scheme with its Express models back in the day when they wanted to present a competitive product shipped quickly. Lenovo picked up the concept and later changed the marketing reference to TopSeller.

Identical machines, identical specs, way different pricing points. TopSeller heavily discounted with little margin or profit margins for resellers. Same machine non TopSeller with the same specs leaves margins of 30-40% for resellers to discount as they see necessary.

I don't think the concept ever did anything for IBM or Lenovo. Bottom line, we look at prices and specs, and buy the machine at a price that makes sense.
