Thinkcentre M55P Lightscribe Q's

#1 Post by Harryc » Tue Jun 03, 2008 10:12 pm

Just installed a new Lightscribe Multiburner in m M55P, and I am looking for a brief leg up on what I need to enable and use Lightscribe? I'm assuming Lightscribe blank media...what about software? Does Lenovo have software? Media recommendations?

My lightscribe drive came with Nero. I open Nero and there is a function to print Lightscribe labels. You use Nero cover designer to create the design and then print it to a lightscribe disc. Expect it to take about 20 minutes to print each one.
It does require special discs and of course the special drive. Depending on the version of the discs you buy and software you have, you may have to upgrade your lightscribe software to a newer version. Your software will alert you and link you to the site if necessary.
Actually I am printing one right now as I type this. It is really no harder than printing a regular label.

Thanks for the reply. So I need to buy Nero since my drive did not come with any software? I was poking aroung the Lenovo site last night and found this. The problem is my drive (Liteon LH-20A1L) is not a Lenovo part, and I was told that most Thinkcentre DVDRW's are Liteons, although the drives listed as supported are all LG's. I'll give it a shot anyway.

Edit: Ok, tried to install it and got a message "This software can only be used with a recorder that is not attached to this computer". Doesn't make much sense, but that takes care of that ...

Which is better for XP, Nero 7 or Nero 8 ?

Thanks again. It's installed, it runs ok, and it sees the drive. I'll post back with results once I get some light scribe media.

Carbon_unit, success!. The Lightscribe drivers and software at the link you posted work flawlessly and are free. Can't beat that!
