ExtremeTech smashes up T21

#1 Post by K. Eng » Fri Jun 04, 2004 7:53 am

http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1 ... 948,00.asp

Too bad the article doesn't say how far the unit fell, or what kind of surface it struck.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

Hmm.. so I guess it didn't fall out of the bag.

In January I slipped on some ice and fell on top of my A21p that was inside a notebook sleeve inside a similar bag. The drop was about the same distance and also on pavement -- plus the "contribution" from my body weight. The only damage was a cracked LCD panel and a broken microswitch on the sub card. All three spindles, keyboard etc. all continued to work just fine.

Cost me about $350 on eBay for replacement parts to make the unit "like new." Don't know why anyone would buy anything but a ThinkPad.
