Does anyone have any thoughts on what version of Windows would run best on a 380Z? I'm planning on using this machine primarily for web browsing and email and want something as modern as possible without bogging the machine down.

Re: What version of Windows for 380Z ???
I'm going to say Win98SE. There are quite a few people still using it, and developing useful software and tools for it. I've got 98SE installed on a 600e with kernelEX and FireFox 3.0.11!, that works great.
W2K would be better in some ways, but with 96MB max. RAM I'm not sure how well it would perform. I tried to put W2K on a 770X a while back, and it was just sluggish with 128MB RAM. I went with 98SE on that machine, and enjoyed it much more.

Thanks Neil, that's exactly the kind of insight I'm looking for!

I find Win98Lite ('98SE) with Firefox 1.5.12 to be a pretty good combination on a 300Mhz 600.dwstucke wrote:Thanks Neil, that's exactly the kind of insight I'm looking for!

(Didn't know Firefox 3 would run under Win98 - must look into that ...).
Flashblock (1.5.6) is pretty much an essential extension with today's graphic-heavy websites, and Download ThemAll is mighty useful for it's resume feature. Irfanview for graphics and Total Commander for just about everything else, including file compression and FTP. I still use Outlook Express (out of laziness), but use MailWasher first to keep the junk away.
