Thinkpad 560x USB?

#1 Post by david565 » Mon Nov 09, 2009 7:07 am

Hi,

I've been helping a mate out with a 560x, it had DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 on it, with some jiggery pokery i have got windows 95 on it for him.

My immediate priority is getting a usb device recognised by 95, i have tried a lot of ways and still nothing. Will it be easier to upgrade Windows 98SE and apply that unofficial service pack with all the updates in?

any help much appreciated.

PS for future reference i used WinImage and MS Virtual machine. I first created an identical sized VHD in MS Virtual machine and installed ms-dos. I then used WinImage to copy this image onto the actual hard drive, which i placed in a AC/DC powered caddy, as a normal one didn't seem to power it. then i copied and pasted the 95 CD onto the hdd and did a HD install. all round it worked very well. - ps .. i come up with this idea all by myself :D

It would be far better to upgrade to windows 98se. Older versions of windows 95 did not support usb and there is no official way to add that support. As long as the system has 64mb you should be fine.

to read up on win 95 and usb look here:
