HV121WX4-120 (Matte AFFS panel) on X200 (Pics inside)

Communicatiion with the seller -
Me - HV121WX4-120 is not an LED LCD, it is CCFL/backlit. Is this a Boe Hydis LCD or is it a compatible?
Seller - "We appreciate your tell us the valuable information.
Actually, we have compatible screen and it comes with digitizer which is a touch screen with CCFL.
If you don't mind, can you tell us is your screen comes with digitizer (touch screen)?"
So, this is not a Boe Hydis LCD.

Re: HV121WX4-120 (Matte AFFS panel) on X200 (Pics inside)
Yes, I have spotted that one too and contacted the seller.
Me:
Them:To my knowledge, there are three variants of BoeHydis HV121WX4 panel, the
HV121WX4-100, -110 and -120. All of them are CCFL backlit, not LED. The
first two are glossy and the -120 is matte. I'm interested in the matte
version. Is this auction EXACTLY for BoeHydis HV121WX4-120? If it is, could
you double check whether it is LED/GLOSSY or CCFL/MATTE (as it should be)?
Thank You.
So it seems to be a Boe-Hydis, just not -120. Still, I think it's currently the cheapest brand new HV121WX4 on ebay.com. I keep looking...We appreciate you tell us the information.
We just check for you that we
have HV121WX4-110 with digitizer touch screen.
Because it is a touch
screen, there is no glossy or anti-glossy.
If you need it, welcome to let
us know.

Re: HV121WX4-120 (Matte AFFS panel) on X200 (Pics inside)
I just ordered 50 pcs of HV121WX4-120 (matte finish) from a Boe Hydis distributor. They are brand new Grade A panels *without* the touchscreen or digitizer (which will save a lot of time and hassle). I should have them available in a few weeks for around $200. I already received some Hydis UXGA Flexview panels (HV150UX1-100) from the same distributor. I also have some Hydis SXGA+ Flexview panels (HV121P01-100) for the X60/X61 on order as well.

I know I asked this before, but I didn't get an answer: is there an IPS or AFFS panel that is WSVGA+ (ie 1440x900) that would fit in an x200s with the LED backlight? Thanks.

Re: HV121WX4-120 (Matte AFFS panel) on X200 (Pics inside)
If anyone knows, the main reason I am trying to find this panel but an LED version (I know it may never exist) is b/c my prior experiences with ccfl panels is that the brightness degrades noticeably after only 2 years. Now someone has told me that it's the cheap ccfl panels that do this; however, quality ones won't do this nearly as quickly. So: is this a quality affs panel from the standpoint of longevity? I'd hope to keep this little panel 4-5 years. I've got a Dell 2405fpw from 5 years ago that is still plenty nice. I've also seen a 2-year-old macbook be shockingly dim and red-tinged in 2 years.

I shouldn't have posted this until I actually had the displays in my hand. I ordered these last week and the distributor told me that Hydis had them in stock. However, today they told me that this model is currently sold out. Oh well... I'll try again in the future.

Please PM me if you get anything for the X201s with the LED screens. I would be interested in getting a better screen installed in my laptop if there is something better than the stock one that comes with it. I saw that you are in Bangkok and I am out there about once a month or so.JGA wrote:>I just ordered 50 pcs of HV121WX4-120 (matte finish) from a Boe Hydis distributor.

So if I want to replace the LED LCD on an X201s (WXGA+) with a non-touch LCD with a better viewing angle and color recognition, what should I be looking at?

WOW
I just finished installing HV121WX4-120 in my X200 and I'm speechless. What a difference! This panel is simply fantastic! So much nicer to look at. Totally and utterly worth it!
Got one stuck sub-pixel though. But it's on far right (about 1.5mm from screen edge) so it's ok.

Where did you buy the panel from? I'm trying to get my hands on one.
Coming from an X61 Tablet, I wish I'd gotten an X200 Tablet instead of the X200 just because of the screen.

Someone recommended http://www.icoec.net/e/index.asp on a German ThinkPad forum. I couldn't find it on their website but I wrote them an email and they had it.amujee wrote:Where did you buy the panel from? I'm trying to get my hands on one.

They asked $250, we finally agreed on $220. Not a bargain, I know, but I really wanted that panel so I decided to pull the trigger knowing from the German forum that they are a reliable source. It's a brand new HV121WX4-120 matte finish with no digitizer or writing surface stuff so it's a simple drop-in. The panel got here pretty quickly from Hong Kong, they used DHL-Express.

Oh ok.
I sent them an email so I guess I'll find out what the final price will be.
I'm also thinking about going the less expensive route with a HV121WX4-110 glossy version and using a matte screen protector.
However, I haven't seen any pics of X200 with glossy upgrade.

Added some test photos:
http://picasaweb.google.com/arkadiusz.w ... V121WX4120#
Unfortunately I can't set the F-value on my camera so it kept adapting to the amount of light. The black screen with highest brightness is nowhere that blue and bright.
I'm really impressed with the low black levels. Also note the lack of backlight bleed.

Re: HV121WX4-120 (Matte AFFS panel) on X200 (Pics inside)
Hey guys! New to the forum. Does anyone out there know how to determine if the HV121WX4-110 panel would fit inside a totally different machine?
I have a Motion Computing LE1700 that has an SXGA screen in it, wacom digitizer (non touch screen)
I was thinking about adding on a touch panel to the display, giving it both pen digitizer and touch screen properties.
Perhaps buying the HV121WX4-110 lcd and removing the touch panel from it / placing it inside my existing laptop..
Or, replacing the whole lcd / digitizer.
It's difficult to find the info on the connectors, internally.. Any suggestions?

HV121WX4 won't fit in your machine. You have a standard screen aspect ratio (4:3) and HV121WX4 is widescreen (16:10).

Not sure about connector compatibility. One thing to note is that the multitouch/pen panel only has 1024x768 resolution.

The theory is that you can replace the whole upper assembly of the X201 with that of the X200, and then replace the screen with the AFFS screen, but nobody has tried this yet.
