When To Buy T510?

#1 Post by borntowin » Thu Nov 18, 2010 2:31 am

I've been thinking of getting a Thinkpad but I have no idea when to buy it - it seems like a sale is on everyday (right now I found a code that takes 20% off the sale price), and I'm not sure when is the right time. I'm thinking of getting a T510 with switchable graphics, btw. Thanks for the help!

Yes, the sales do seem perpetually in effect. What's your goal? Is it getting the lowest price, having it configured exactly as you want, shipped the quickest, etc.?

If you're in Canada and you have a Visa card I would recommend buying it from visaperks.ca instead.

Their sales are usually a lot better and longer. Also when you configure your machine all of the options are cheaper as well. You're basically buying it from Lenovo but with a discount. You can configure a machine on lenovo.com and then configure the same machine on visaperks.ca and compare which one is cheaper.

Thanks! Basically I'm asking whether if I buy it now, would the value dramatically decrease anytime soon? I don't want to buy one now only to find out a month later I could have gotten it for $200 cheaper.

That's really hard to know because Lenovo is unlikely to make that information public cause everyone would wait until it's the lowest. About the best you can do is watch for a while so you'll know when it's relatively low. The best value is probably on ebay, but eBay has its own complications.

Absolutely. It absolutely will.

The answer to this question has always, throughout the entire history of personal computing, been yes. Chances are, it always will be too. :)

Then you can just forget about buying any kind of electronics because that will always be the case. New models come out all the time. You have to just pick a point, jump in and don't look back.
