Two questions about X41 Tablet

#1 Post by PuuFa » Sat Mar 19, 2011 3:14 pm

Hello for all! :D First of all I would need to know is there leaded or unleaded solder used in the X41 or in other words which one should I use? I don't have much experience on soldering mobos but I have the expression that leaded and unleaded solder don't mix too well, am I right?

Second question is about the Intel integrated video in this machine (GMA900 or something) as I would like to know if there is any way to get Aero activated in Windows 7.. I have read there's no official wddm driver for this chip but hardware wise it should be somewhat able to run Aero. I have not had a change to mess with this thing yet because I bought the machine without a HD and I'm just about to solder a fresh SATA SSD in place.

To avoid any problems (and it is also easier to work with), use leaded solder, regardless of how it came ex factory.
Leaded solder just holds much better.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

To the 2nd question, you answered it. Unless somebody comes up with a modded driver, aero won't work at all. Even then, it probably won't work that well.

I'm typing this on my X41T, I had Win7 for a couple of days and it worked very good. I did not miss Aero, even when having it in my desktop PC. I don't think is worth the trouble to look for modded drivers

I've had 7 running for awhile now on 2 x32's and 2 x41s and I haven't had any problems. I also don't miss aero.

Windows 7 boots up faster and shuts down quick. You'll like it, even without aero.
