eCS 2.0 Is Out

#1 Post by BigWarpGuy » Sat May 29, 2010 7:50 am

The newest version of eComStation is out. It is version 2.0. It is available at http://www.ecomstation.com I have ordered it and it is being delivered. It is the 'GA' and not a version that requires a software subscription. I will report about it when it arrives here. 8)

eComStation is an operating system based on the OS/2 kernel from IBM. Serenity Systems has developed eComStation. The latest version - 2.0 - has just recently been released. It does modern hardware; IIRC. I have been using OS/2 now eCS since Warp version 3. I am a fan of both OS/2 and eCS. :P

PS I am puzzled by your reply. :(

I have been following eCS development since ver. 1.2. It keeps getting better and better. Now with 2.0 GA available, I downloaded and installed it on my T-60. (I have software subscription). This is undoubtedly the best yet.

Now, I'm looking for suggestions fof a USB TV, FM receiver that will work with eCS.

I like OS2 as well, it worked great on old hardware back in the day. 2.1, Warp 3, Warp 4, I tried the eCs and it was alot of trouble on newer hardware, then I found Linux

I was kind of hoping eCs was going to make the come back, but for me, not worth the effort, but I wish the best to you guys that persevere, form on OS2 guy to another. Good Luck :thumbs-UP:

What about available software? Is possible to run newer applications such as internet browsers, communicators etc... on eComStation (former OS/2)?

If only hardware support for the Intellistation was good... I'd use it on my workstation happily!
Need help with Linux or FreeBSD? PM or catch me on IRC: I'm ThinkRob on FreeNode and EFnet.
Laptop: X270, running Fedora
Desktop: Intellistation 285 (currently dead)
Workstation: owned by my employer ;)
Toy: Miata!
