ThinkPad T430

#1 Post by demesne » Tue May 31, 2011 11:57 pm

While searching for some drivers for the T420, I noticed on the Lenovo Support site that there was an entry for a T430. When I select it to go to the available downloads for it, it has a label 'test t430'. Is this a sign of a new incoming T series model? The T420 has only been on the market for a few months right?

Lenovo releases laptops precicely as fast as intel releases mobile chips.
T430 will happen around next april, a few months after some insane blowout sales on T420 stock.

I tried to copy the link, but it was something like: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/default.page?

It wouldn't have taken you to the right page. I've noticed it's gone now, but I did manage to take a screenshot before. It's on my laptop at home though. I'll post it when I get a chance.

I only hope with the T430 (and even better T430S or equivalent) that they will have a high quality, non-reflective hi-nit screen that can be used outdoors. They had models like that years ago but have really fallen down with screen quality. I don't need super high resolution but something you can actually view outdoors would be really helpful. I expect they'll come along with other features like HDMI, use their new quick charge technology, etc.. But the two most important features in the end for those on their computers hours per day are probably the keyboard and the screen. They're great with keyboards but need to come along with their screens. How about anti-glare (instead of that horrible gorilla glass) ips 400 nits? Otherwise I have to start looking at improvements on the Samsung models.

The T430 model number probably refers to a refresh with Intel's upcoming Ivy Bridge CPUs which will be popularly known as "3rd generation Core i3/i5/i7"
