Problems with Lenovo USB - DVI adapter

#1 Post by globetrotter » Fri Jan 01, 2010 7:51 am

I purchased this adapter (45K5296) to use with my X61 and a 21" widescreen monitor. When it is installed, the mouse movements are very jerky. I tried it with a 19" 4:3 monitor with the same result. In fact, if I switch to to analog output, the jerkyness disappears. Is this a characteristic of this adapter? Is there any way to rectify it? Any other ideas on getting digital output from an X61? Thanks. In teh meantime, I have hooked up the monitor with my X200s with its displayport output, and it works fine. Thanks.

Don't know if this is your case, but check it out anyway: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-64923

Your X61 does not support DVI natively.
The media slice doesn't support it either.

Thanks. I checked out the base but I have one of the newer ones. Not much else I can find. For, now, I reverted to using the VGA port. The jerky mouse was driving me nuts and I see little, if any, difference between the USB-DVI digital output and the VGA analog output. I guess I will just live with it. I love my X61 (and I have an X60 too) except for the lack of native digital monitor output.

I have the exact same issue. How can someone pretending to be a serious company sell a product that does not work with mouse IN WINDOWS? This looks like a serious design flaw, and might be even in hw. Who can we complain to?

No one. USB2 cannot come even close to delivering the necessary bandwidth for smooth high-resolution video.
